National Deaf Children’s Society

NDCF is President Lesley’s charity for her year and the club welcomed Laura Beavis on 18 May 2009 to talk about the organisation and what it does.

Three babies are born deaf in the UK every day; 90% are born to hearing parents with little experience of deafness.  NDCS provides support and information. Of especial value are the weekends when families meet together for mutual support and the activity days for children.

The 8 Family Officers working in the south of the UK will be extended to 12 to respond to increasing need. Each Family Officer is expected to be in contact with 125 families per annum.
