President’s message
We are having a very successful year with all 23 members participating fully in all club activities.
A charity quiz was held on 11th June in support of Relate, the East Lancs. Contact Centre and Blackburn Festival of Music, Speech and Dance. This event was so popular that it was oversubscribed and more than £600 was raised; a very good way of raising money for worthwhile causes whilst having fun.
Other fun events are planned i.e. our Friendship Evening in September, an Afternoon Tea and Gardening Question Time, and an evening in December with Balloon Artistry. In 2010 have a fun evening ‘detoxing your wardrobe’!
The Club also addresses very serious issues affecting women & children. We have helped organise a Public meeting about Human Trafficking and have heard DS Mark Whelan speak on sexual grooming. There is to be a speaker on HIV and AIDS.
