A Special Honour for a Special Lady

SI Cannock was delighted last week to confer a special honour on its oldest member 93 year old Dora Leighton. A very well known lady in the Cannock area, Dora ran her own very successful dance school for many, many years. She taught generations of families to dance; teaching ballet and tap as well as ballroom dancing. She is still a very active member of S.I. Cannock, attending events throughout the region and is a source of inspiration, advice and friendship to everyone in the club. She was made an Honorary Life Member of Cannock club in a ceremony last week. It was a complete surprise to Dora when she was asked to become an Honorary Life Member but everyone was delighted when she accepted the honour, especially some of her oldest friends who were extremely pleased for her.
Photo attached shows Dora with some of her oldest friends: Front row, left to right: Margaret Young, Georgina Ward, Dora Leighton with flower basket, and Edie Thomas. Back row: Janis Lomas, (President of S.I. Cannock) and June Hardman.
