Members of Soroptimist International Coleraine branch recently got the chance to quiz Christine Lagan, the practice nurse in Castlerock.
Christine obtained her training, qualifications and experience both abroad and in Northern Ireland. Currently she runs clinics
With GP support, covering a wide range of health issues like well woman, asthma, smoking cessation, breast awareness, lung cancer, heart, diabetes and travel health. She explained primary prevention of illness is the main role and is achieved with team work from doctors, the district, health and community nurses supported by good administration. Annual appraisal ensures staff are kept up to date.
Club members responded with several questions covering items of current debate like the injections against cervical cancer for school girls.
On behalf of the club the honorary treasurer Winsome Burns thanked Christina for her informative talk and commented on her professionalism and obvious job satisfaction.
