Soroptimists’ Christmas Cheer

Once again Crosby Soroptimists ‘took over’ the Rotarians’ Santa float for an evening in the run-up to Christmas. This year they were joined by four enthusiastic students from Holy Family RC High School who braved the biting cold to assist in the door-to-door collection.
Local Thornton residents of all ages came out to wave to Santa, enjoy the Christmas music, and drop their small (and not so small) change into the boxes. Afterwards the Soroptimists and helpers relaxed over welcome refreshments, and then counted up. To everyone’s delight the evening’s grand total exceeded £440.
President Pat Williams said, “This Christmas event was, as always, a great team effort. I should like to thank the President and members of Rotary International of Crosby for loaning us the float and dealing with logistics. The students worked really hard and we were extremely grateful for their help. And to our wonderful Thornton residents who gave Santa such a warm welcome - thank you for your generosity: the money raised will all go to local good causes supported by our club.”
