Baggatelles

soroptimist with baggatelles bags

SI Crosby has set up a small club project to make and sell bags as “Baggatelles”. Members are encouraged to participate in the project, whether by helping to sew the items, or by selling them at Soroptimist meetings and other local events.

There are currently two types of bags. Vegbags are made of linen or other strong fabric: they are ideal for the storage of potatoes, onions or root vegetables. Tote-bags are thick, colourful cotton multipurpose carrier bags in three sizes. “Baggatelles” are washable.

Feedback from purchasers is very positive about the effectiveness of the vegbags and about the overall quality of the goods. The bags also help to safeguard the environment by reducing the number of plastic bags in circulation.

Proceeds from the sale of SI Crosby’s “Baggatelles” are currently destined for Soroptimist International’s Project Sierra: a Family and a Future.
