Dignity! Period.

Through lack of affordable sanitary protection, women in Zimbabwe are losing their dignity with every period. SI Crosby members have collected their ‘small change’ at business meetings as a contribution to the Dignity! Period. campaign. Organised by ACTSA (Action for Southern Africa), the campaign supports women in Zimbabwe through the supply of essential sanitary protection.

A pack of sanitary towels in Zimbabwe can cost more than double the average monthly wage. As a result, many women are forced to use newspapers and dirty rags, a practice which leads to infections, for which there is little available medication. Worse still, these infections are often misconstrued as STIs, leading to social embarrassment and domestic violence.

ACTSA is working in partnership and at the request of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) who are standing up for the rights of the women of Zimbabwe to have access to safe and hygienic sanitary protection every month.

Through Dignity! Period. SI Crosby’s ‘small change’ collection can make a big difference.
