Education Achievement Award
During the recent Conference held in Harrogate of the Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland, the East Grinstead Soroptimist Club was presented with the Education Achievement Award.
The Club received the award for a project where mothers and children from the Forest Row Community Playgroup visited a local Field Centre near Ashdown Forest. They took part in bug hunts, pond dipping, a game of Pooh Sticks at Pooh Bridge and had a picnic lunch in the field.
The project helped raise funds for the Playgroup and the children became more aware of the environment while taking part in the various activities and it introduced the young mothers to the organisation and the core purpose of Sororptimist International which is to advance human rights and to improve the status of women in the world.
