A visit to the Mayor
President Pat Hanns and eight members of the club were entertained to coffee by the Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Katrina Trott. They had a brief tour of the council chamber and met the mayor’s personal staff. During the visit members were able to see the spectacular views from the windows of the mayor’s parlour on the eighth floor of the council offices. The parlour itself, where the mayor can entertain visitors, is very impressive. It is the home of some very fine works of art, which show parts of Fareham as it was more than two hundred years ago.
The mayor talked about some of her duties and the particular charities that she has supported during her year in office. There was a great deal of common ground and matters of mutual interest. The visit was both interesting and informative. Councillor Trott also talked about the opportunities for local people to meet the mayor and to attend council meetings.
