Kingfisher!!
We were really happy to see DDM join us again after her travels. She set off at quite a lick and we puffed along behind! The route was again west around Addingham. It was a lovely sunny morning after all the squalls of yesterday. The tree colours were wonderful and the river was very full! Near Low Mill, Maestro spotted a kingfisher! Rather a large and handsome one it has to be said. It perched on a convenient branch for us to admire and then flew up and down the riverbank. Very fine streaks of orange and iridescent blue: a wonderful sighting. We had to stop and admire. What with that bit of ‘twitching’ and the photocall beside the weir we should have been slower than last week but no… we finished according to schedule, and within last week’s time! The vital statistics were 515 kcals,10,400 steps and one flashy bird.
