In the past year donations were given to the Air Ambulance, and donations of food and supplies for Zimbabwe.
Club members have been knitting blanket squares and the day of service was spent sewing blankets for the Fistula Appeal.

Speaker Meetings

The Speaker meetings are held on the third thursday of the month. We were pleased to host Ann Dawson Federation Past President at our meeting in May. Ann gave an inspiring talk on Soroptimists, A Global Voice for Women.

In July the club had it’s Summer Outing to the Drakelow Tunnels in Wolverly. The tunnels were an underground factory producing necessary vehicle parts during World War II and later was a designated seat of Regional Government in the event of any nuclear attack.

In November 2009, a silent auction was held and the funds collected will be given to Project Sierra

Our speaker in January 2010 is Anne Hill who will talk about Project Sierra. In February Jane Lodge will speak on A Woman’s Place is in the Boardroom. In March, one of our recent members, Hilary Thompson will be the speaker.

Little Big Band Concert.

On Sunday 2nd November 2008 SI Kidderminster & District will be hosting the Little Big Band Concert (CBSO Members) at the Ramada Hotel Bewdley at 7pm. Funds are being raised for the County Air Ambulance and Dial-a-Ride, tickets £12.50. We invite you to come and participate in supporting this event and enjoy the wonderful music of the CBSO.

ASHA WYRE FOREST

SI Kidderminster & District concentrates it’s service work, and fund raising activities,on working alongside Asha Wyre Forest. This organisation is an independent Women’s Charity which aims to help disadvantaged women in the area of Kidderminster to gain the knowledge and skills required to facilitate their integration back into society.

Members of the club are involved with ASHA in many ways: two are Trustees, regular professional support and supervision to the “Support Co-ordinator”, assist weekly at a “Learn Direct IT Course”, provide sewing materials, paint the toilet and fundraise.

Wyre Forest Nightstop

The club helps provide toiletries for this organisation and has a member on the Board of Trustees. Nightstop provides emergency overnight accomodation, maximum of 3 nights, for young people 16-25 who are homeless.
