President’s message
Welcome to our King’s Lynn club website.
I hope you will enjoy reading about our projects, our latest news and our programme of meetings and events.
On Monday, April 20th Past President Valerie Rout handed over the presidential chain of office of Soroptimist International of King’s Lynn to me at the Annual General Meeting, held at Green Quay.
I consider it a privilege to be given this honour by our club.
It is to be a year of new beginnings – meeting at the Green Quay on the first Monday of each month, excluding Bank Holidays at 7.30p.m. Meetings will deal with both business and programme action. We will have a speaker at each meeting. Regional President, Margaret Hyde, will speak at our meeting on 1st June, 2009
There will also be an opportunity to have a light meal before the start of the meeting from 6pm. This must be booked prior to the meeting. It is hoped this will encourage more young, working women to be able join the Club.
We are always pleased to welcome non-members.
During the last year we raised money to support The Willow Tree project and the cheque was presented by Past President Val at the AGM.

Soroptimism isn’t all about fund-raising as we are a service organisation as well. We check the tapes for the Talking Newspaper on a monthly basis and provide toiletries for the local women’s refuge. We also support a school in The Gambia, set up by one of our members, by collecting knitted jumpers from local ladies and providing the chemicals for the annual dipping of mosquito nets.
Of course, we’re not always serious! We also have social events ranging from A Murder Mystery Evening, Friendship Dinners to a Knitters’ Tea Party. Our Charter Lunch is in July when we hope to welcome members of our Friendship Clubs.
This year we are supporting the NSPCC.
We are proud to have the Past Regional President and Treasurer as members of the Club.
I hope I have given you a flavour of SI King’s Lynn and that you will want to browse through the links on the left of this message to find out more.
