Soroptimists and the MS Society Supporting Each Other
SI Kingston upon Hull enjoyed a day working with the Hull, Beverley Borough & Holderness Multiple Sclerosis Society (MSS). The MSS held an Autumn Fair and the Soroptimists helped with supplying items for sale and manning a stall. Each stall was run on behalf of the society and every penny raised was for MS. The members of MSS were hard working and very well organised. This made the task much easier.
It’s not possible to say how much money was raised by the Soroptimists, as everything went into the same fund, but it was good to see the old fashioned values of Soroptimism expertise and service put to use. Our member, Carol Higgingbottom, a jeweller by profession, was able to help on the jewellery stall (by far the busiest area) advising, taking money and helping to prevent theft. It was sad to see members of the public were prepared to steal from a charity. Carol has offered to advise the MSS on their stock to ensure the goods, in future, are valued and priced correctly.
Help and support flows both ways between these organisations. In recognition of our club’s support the MSS are advertising the name of SI of Kingston upon Hull on their vehicle.
A rewarding arrangement for all.
