Social and Fundraising
Social and fundraising activities play an important role. They enable members to establish friendships and provide opportunities to network and raise awareness of current projects. Although we are primarily a service organisation fundraising is very often the main means of enabling a project to begin, especially international projects such as Project Sierra.
Each year our Club President chooses a local charity to support. As well as fundraising, members also offer their services and expertise where appropriate. For many years our club has supported the Rainbows Children’s Hospice and a number of members have become trustees. Other organisations include CLASP, Leicester’s Childrens Hospital School and Leicester Charity Link. Offering service in this way not only helps the charity but also provides excellent opportunities for personal development.
Our International President also chooses a charity or organisation to support. This is called our December 10th Appeal, when all clubs are asked to organise one event to raise funds for her chosen charity.
