Our Federation Councillor
Ineke Morris is our Federation Councillor. She is our link with SIGBI - she attends the Federation meeting before the Annual SIGBI Conference and is a silent observer at the meetings of the SIGBI Management Board.
As our Federation Representative she is invited to sit on one of the Federation’s committees and Ineke belongs to the PR, Marketing and Development committee with Pat Black as SIGBI Federation Director. They have a ‘phone-in’ meeting in March, June and July - so any PR matters can be discussed.
Another important aspect of Ineke’s role is to work closely with the Regional President and Programme Action Officer - and other officers - to ensure that there is good communication between the region and the Federation. The region’s officers must work in partnership with Ineke to ensure that we follow SIGBI’s guidelines and support their new initiatives.
One of Ineke’s aims is to encourage regional support for the Can-Do Campaign. This excellent campaign asks clubs to promote Soroptimism by considering their approaches to Membership, Public Relations and Programme Action. These are the vital elements that make for a vibrant club, where every member can be involved.
Ineke is very keen that we should, as a region, become involved in some way,in the Olympics in 2012 and is working on this with others in the Federation. She reports regularly at the regional meetings and updates us on progress. Members are being encouraged to sign up as volunteers and to keep themselves updated through the Olympic website.
