Visit to Canine Partners Training Centre at Heyshott, West Sussex

A party of Soroptimists travelled to Heyshott on Thursday evening 18th September. After enjoying an impromptu BBQ we were entertained and educated by “canine partners” in training. The dogs were shown completing a variety of tasks that they can undertake to assist their “partner” . We saw four dogs who were in various stages of their training, from an eight week old golden labrador to an older labradoodle. They were all enchanting!

The evening was completed by an enjoyable meal at a local pub. A very entertaining, informative and fun evening.

Outwood Fayre Saturday 30th August

The Club held a very enjoyable and successful fund raising day at Outwood Fayre. One of the few days when the sun shone brightly the Fayre was very lively and busy. The Club manned a tombola and bric a brac stall and funds were raised for President Glenys’ charity Canine Partners.

Lunch 28th July 2008 to raise awareness for Canine Partners, President Glenys’ Charity

A lunch was held at President Gleny’s home on 28th July when friends gathered together to hear more about Canine Partners - President Gleny’s chosen charity for the year. Despite the sweltering heat the lunch was well attended and great interest was expressed in this venture.

Pat, together with her canine partner, Yukon (a black labrador) attended and was able to show how Yukon assists her in everyday life.

The lunch was well received and a raffle assisted in the raising of £152.

Afternoon Tea 15th July 2008

Afternoon Tea for Club members was held at President Glenys’ home and was a very enjoyable social event. Pat Hewitt and her Canine Partner, Yukon, joined us and, as usual, Yukon was made a great fuss of.

We were extremely lucky with the weather, the sun shone brightly and the many cakes had to be moved or melt!!

President Glenys had prepared a sumptous feast of dainty sandwiches, scones jam and cream, and “to die for” cakes.

There were sales of lemon marmalade, cucumbers and sweet peas.

A total of £95 was raised for President Glenys’ charity - Canine Partners.
