Award Winning Soroptimists
At the Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland conference in Harrogate, SI Rhyl and District, received the Best Practice Award for ‘Promoting International Goodwill and Understanding’.
Their National Writing and Art Competition organised in association with the Women’s Section of the Royal Saudi Arabian Embassy in London was the winning project.
The competition used an environmental theme of Deserts and Drylands where children from British and Saudi Arabian schools in Britain had to imagine they were either a camel, rattlesnake or a vulture.
Subsequent to the competition Rhyl club members Imelda Jones and Shirley Jones compiled a book and a video of entries. Proceeds from the sale of the book are in aid of the Soroptimist quadrennial project.-Project SIerra
