President’s message
A very warm welcome to the web page for the Region of South Lancashire of Soroptimist International; I hope that if you are new to Soroptimism, or interested in joining, that you may find something which encourages you to join our organisation.
The Soroptimist Region of South Lancashire is made up of 19 Clubs : Ashton-under-Lyne, Bolton, Bootle, Bury, Crosby, Leigh, Liverpool, Manchester, Oldham, Ormskirk, Ramsbottom, Rochdale, Southport, St. Helens, Stockport, Warrington, Widnes, Wigan and Wilmslow. All the clubs hold their own meetings on a regular basis and all meet together a minimum four times a year. I am looking forward to the year ahead as your Regional President. Since I became a member of Soroptimist International, my horizons have extended and this is something I would wish for every woman and girl to be able to achieve.
Through education, encouragement and empowering we are helping women and girls, throughout the world, to have things that we take for granted. Clean water and sanitation, 2008 being the year for this, food on their table – a fair wage – a place to sleep safely – health care – be free from violence and have the opportunity to achieve their full potential and independence.
Soroptimist International has given us the chance to become who we are to-day, to have experiences that we may not have been able to make alone.
