Audrey Collins OBE died on the 14th February aged 94. Audrey joined Soroptimist International St Albans & District Club in 1972 and was President in 1978. Audrey was a trail blazer for women and an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She received her OBE for services to women’s cricket and was one of the first 10 female members admitted by the MCC in 1999. On Audrey’s 90th birthday she was presented with a cake decorated as a cricket pitch saying “90 not out” and was thrilled to be presented with a cricket bat signed by the England women’s team (see pics below). Audrey was always telling us how lucky she was to have had such a wonderful life filled with friends and family, and we can only say how lucky we were to know her.

A memorial service will be held in St Albans on Friday May 21st (details tba).
