Belarus shoe boxes 2008

Members and friends attended a quiz and fish and chip supper on 29th January.  As well as having fun and an enjoyable meal money was raised to help with transport costs of goods sent to Belarus.  The total profit was some £328 and we were grateful to Kath Smith of SI Newcastle and District who was Quiz Master for the evening.

The above picture is of members of S I Sutton Coldfield with 510 shoe boxes ready wrapped for Christmas to go to Belarus.  We have been involved in this project for 8 years and have progressed from 32 boxes the first year!  They are Christmas gifts for all ages from 0 - 100!

Belarus is still badly affected by the Chernobyl fallout.  We work with the Chernobyl Affected Children Charity based in Leicester, we help to pay transport costs and throughout the year send non prescription hospital supplies, clothes, household items and toys.
