Our meetings, which begin at 7.30, are held on the second Thursdays of each month, with additional events on most fourth Thursdays.  The Golden Fleece Hotel, Market Place, Thirsk is our usual venue Golden Fleece which is convenient for the several members who opt to eat in the hotel beforehand.
Members come from, for example, business, the professions, agriculture, education, health and the voluntary sector and our Club activities are almost as varied.  We all do our best to keep fit through organised walks and regular litter-picks, whilst individual members again took part in the Great North Run (see picture below)in the tradition of previous Presidents who have led sponsored cycle rides, swims and barn dances.

Recent topics exercising our brains have included The White Ribbon Campaign (Men Against Domestic Violence), medical aid to Sierra Leone and wine-tasting. Our Fundraising Quiz Evenings look set to become regular events.  The Club has been sponsoring the efforts of Secretary Rosemary on a specialist book review website and we include a bookshop/lending library at our Meetings

Ann our Programme Action Co-ordinator makes sure that we take part in Regional initiatives.

Regular financial support has been given for some years to the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital.  After the successful completion of the local initiative to fund a respite bed in The Lambert Hospital, Thirsk, our Club is presently looking for another local ‘cause’ to support.  All suggestions would be welcome.

Some years ago the Club helped financially to establish the Thirsk Community Woodlands Group and we are now looking to support the Group more practically with their work in seeding, growing and replanting trees across North Yorkshire.

The Club hosts the February Friendship Lunch at The Society of Friends Meeting House Thirsk.
