Message from Regional President Sue
What a wonderful experience it was to become your Regional President at Cardiff with so much support from you, the members of our Region. Receiving the Chain of Office from Federation President Jackie was a moving moment, one I shall cherish forever.
Cardiff gave us an outstanding conference, with exceptional key note speakers, a varied program and of course an opportunity to raise our profile with the “Bras in the Bay” event.
Conferences give us an opportunity to renew acquaintances, and to meet and make new friends from all quarters of the world within our Federation.
We return to Clubs and Region re-energised and enthused by the outstanding work done by Soroptimists all over the world. We learn from each other, and this ties in with my theme for the year
“Educate, Empower and Enjoy”
We are educated in all aspects of life. We are educated to change our lifestyle for a healthier wellbeing; we are educated to care for others; we are educated in considering changes to our environment by re-cycling and conservation of energy and water; we educate others through the work we do as an Organisation by raising awareness through the many projects we do at local, regional and international level, and so by educating and being educated we are empowered.
Whatever we do may seem insignificant, but it is important we do it.
We are empowered to let go of the past so that we can embrace the future and the direction in which our Organisation must move to accommodate today’s modern woman, whilst having fun and enjoyment on the way.
I am proud to be a Soroptimist, I am proud to be your Regional President and I will be proud and privileged to be a part of your activities and functions throughout my year.
